PNS

Three days after a horrific train accident claimed 275 lives near the Bahanaga Bazar station in Baleswar district, another train derailed in Bargarh district on Monday.

According to reports, five wagons of a goods train carrying limestone from Dunguri mines to Bargarh derailed near Samardarha village in Bhatli in the morning.

However, no casualty has been reported so far.

On receiving information, police reached the accident site and began a probe.

In a clarification, the East Coast Railway stated that there was no role of Indian Railways in the incident.

“It is not at all connected with Indian Railway system. This is completely a narrow gauge siding of a private cement company. All the infrastructure including rolling stock, like; engine, wagons, train track (narrow gauge) are being maintained by the company,” the ECoR said.

There is a private narrow gauge rail line between Dunguri Limestone Mines and ACC Cement plant Bargarh. The line, wagons, loco all are private, the ECoR added.
