The GMR Kamalanga Energy limited (GKEl) has launched a few initiatives towards sustainable livelihood of women in nine villages of Mangalpur Panchayat in Dhenkanal district.
It has opened three tailoring centres in the panchayat for the girls.
Efforts have been made for market linkage with ‘SAATHI’, a state-level apex body of SHGs for these products. More than 200 girls have been benefited from the tailoring centres in the area.
Besides, women were being provided earning opportunities through mushroom cultivation, manufacturing of Agarbati, livestock (poultry and goat) rearing, among others. Beside, the SHGs are encouraged to be self-dependent by setting up small and medium enterprises in their respective villages.
The GKEl is focusing on overall development of women and how they can be economically self-dependent by using their own skill.
