A Class-X girl student was allegedly molested by the husband of the headmistress of a high school under the Baisinga police station in Mayurbhanj district on Thursday.
The accused was identified as Chinmaya Mishra, husband of Sujatarani Pati, the headmistress of Chintamani Tilottama Girls’ High School here.
Reports said Mishra had allegedly called the girl student atop the roof where he touched her at inappropriate places. He also offered her vermilion, raw rice and bael leaves and asked her to apply it on her body to excel in studies
Then, the accused applied vermilion on her body. Following which, the girl opposed and started screaming. But Mishra threatened the girl with dire consequences if she disclosed the matter to anyone.
The girl later narrated her ordeal to her family members. who lodged a complaint with the Baisinga police alleging molestation by the headmistress’ husband at school.
Police have registered a case against Mishra under Sections 8 and 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The Headmistress also faced people’s wrath as the locals staged a dharna in front of the school demanding arrested of the accused, reports said.
