An estuarine crocodile killed a 14-year-old girl of Sahupada village under Badaambila gram panchayat of Ali block on Thursday while she was taking bath in the Brahmani river.
The girl, identified as Saraswati Parida, was a Class X student and daughter of Sahadev Parida. The locals made a frantic search but failed to trace her. The incident was informed to the Rajnagar Forest Range officials. Forest personnel also could not trace the girl’s body.
As long as the girl’s body has not been found, the forest officials would not establish that she died in the crocodile attack and would not pay compensation to the bereaved family, said forest official sources.
