PNS

The State Government on Saturday suspended two revenue officials for allegedly facilitating the illegal construction of a road along a minor forest land in Ghangapatna village under the Khordha Tehsil limits on the outskirts of the capital city.

Paikarapur Revenue Inspector (RI) Basanta Kumar Swain and Khordha Sub-Collector Office clerk Niranjan Das were placed under suspension for their alleged complicity in the illegal road construction which helped some influential persons grab forest land by fraudulent means, said Khordha Collector Niranjan Sahu.

Sahu said that basing on a report of inquiry into the Ghangapatna land scam, the Bhubaneswar Tehsildar also lodged an FIR against two persons, Mahendra Dehuri and Susant Behera with the Chandaka police for their alleged involvement in the transaction of land in question.

Through the FIR the police have been requested to investigate the involvement of others in the illegal transaction of land and the construction of the illegal and controversial road on the “chhota Jungle kissam” land, the district Collector informed.

“We are also verifying the official records to ascertain the involvement of others in the incident and no guilty persons would be spared,” Sahu assured. Meanwhile, Chandaka police station inspector Bimal Barik said that very soon the two accused in connection with the controversial road would be arrested.

Earlier, the State Government had constituted a four-member Task Force led by Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Taradatta to probe the Ghangapatana land scam.
