Two unidentified miscreants came by a Bajaj Pulsar motorbike and looted Rs 5 lakh from Srinivas Petrol pump cashier Srinibas Rao near Dian Dein Chhak under the Rambha police limits in Ganjam district on Monday afternoon.
Rao was going with the entire day’s collection to deposit in a bank when he was waylaid by the two miscreants and snatched away his cash. When he protested, the duo fired one round at him and fled the spot. Ganjam SP Asish Singh said Rao was injured and had been admitted into a local hospital. His condition is stated to be stable.
“The modus operandi of the operation is being examined and some positive clues have been received. Hopefully, the police would nab the culprits soon,” said Singh.
