Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday arrested Ganjam district’s Kabisuryanagar GPTA Arundhoti Behera for demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs 15,000 Brundaban Karan of Bada Agula to prepare final bill in connection with construction of a culvert.
Karan had constructed a culvert in between Bada Agula and IB road for which he requested Behera to prepare the final bill. Behera demanded Rs 15,000 for the purpose.
In another such incident, Kendrapada district’s Rajakanika Trailokapur GP VlW Sudhakar Pradhan was also caught by Vigilance officers for taking Rs 2,000 from Bijaya Behera of Gangadhar Prasadia to process the file for release of security deposit.
Behera, after constructing steps of the Gangadhar Prasadia Temple and taking final bill of Rs 3 lakh, requested Pradhan to release his security deposit of Rs 6,000. However, Pradhan demanded Rs 2,000 for the purpose.
Vigilance sleuths laid traps in both the cases and caught them red-handed while taking demanded bribe amounts from respective complainants.
Pradhan’s Government quarter and parental house at Nurugaon, Rajnagar were under search, said an official release.
