Ganjam district’s Khallikote Range Forester Purna Chandra Pradhan was on Thursday arrested for demanding a bribe of `3,000 for allowing transportationof Akasia wood.
Reports said Balaram Nayak of B Nuagaon under Kodala police station in Ganjam district had requested forester Pradhan for allowing him to transport Akasia wood from his land to a nearby saw mill. However, Pradhan demanded Rs 3,000 for doing the fevour. Nayak reported the matter to SP, Vigilance, Brahmapur and accordingly a trap was laid on Thursday where Pradhan was caught red-handed in his office at Khallikote.
The residential Government quarter situated inside the campus of Khallikote Forest Range Office was being searched.
