The Gajapati police on Wednesday foiled two attempts of ganja smuggling to Bihar from the district and arrested seven person, including a woman, in this connection. In the first incident, the Mohana police intercepted a car at Kamalapur junction while patrolling.
During checking, 130.700 kg of the contraband was seized. Two persons Prabin Kumar and Shakar Roy of Patna in Bihar were arrested and forwarded to court. In another incident, the Adaba police seized 30 kg ganja and arrested five persons including a woman.
The accused were identified as Azad Kumar, Ramdalil Ray, Jalewswar Ray, Bhim Ray and a woman Rubi Devi. All are natives of Bihar. Besides, two cars were also seized. A case was registered in the Adaba PS under the NDPS Act and the accused forwarded to court.
