Ignoring the comments made by his politician-son Sisir, senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang on Thursday refuted the reports of quitting his grand old party and joining the BJP. Speaking for the first time since reports of him planning to quit Congress started making rounds, Gamang said that neither he has contacted any other party nor has he been approached by any party.

Gamang, a nine-time MP from Koraput said, “I have not left the Congress and there is no truth in reports mentioning that I am planning to quit.” He criticised media for not contacting him before publishing such news. Even after his father’s statement, Sisir Gamang on Thursday said, “He (Giridhar) has not denied the report. Just wait for a few days more, and everything will be clear.”
