Vigilance personnel here on Monday began questioning suspended IPS officer Satish Gajbhiye over his wife's acquisition of Government land in Gop block of Puri district for fish farming.
Reports alleged that Gajbhiye, entangled in chit fund scam, was instrumental in procuring vast stretches of land in his wife Rachna's name and had not disclosed them in his property statements.
While Gajbhiye claims that his wife had purchased a little over seven acres of land in Puri district for fish farming, the revenue records show that over 22 acres of adjacent Government land has been encroached. While the local tehsildar has already initiated an encroachment case, the Vigilance sleuths questioned Gajbhiye in this connection.
