Resentment is growing among people of Gajapati district over the non-availability of hostel facility in the Paralakhemundi Sevashram even after seven months of registration of nearly a hundred of tribal students.
Blaming it on the apathetic attitude of the concerned departmental authorities, the locals allege that the tribal students are staying at their own residents as the Ashram has failed to provide hostel facilities.
“While the annual examinations would be held in March, teaching of the students is yet to start,” rued a villager.
Notably, the construction of a 100-bed hostel building was completed at a cost of Rs35 lakh sanctioned by the Gajapati ITDA in 2010.
Under the direction of the concerned authorities, in-charge headmistress Nitya Maharana had registered names of 100 students to teach them.
But due to unavailability of basic facilities like electricity and water connections, the students have not been kept in the hostel, said villagers.
