Police seized ganja worth Rs 50 lakh while it was being smuggled from Gajapati district in separate incidents on Friday. Police arrested four persons in connection with this and confiscated the two vehicles which were being used for transportation of the contraband.
In the first incident, Mohana police station IIC Sujit Kumar Nayak and his team intercepted a vehicle which was on its way from Rayagada. Over six quintals of ganja worth Rs 30 lakh was recovered. The contraband was being transported to Haryana. Two Haryana natives Manoj Kumar Tomar and Abinash Kumar Singh were arrested.
In another incident, the Adaba police conducted a raid and seized 331 kg ganja from a vehicle. Two accused identified as Ishwarbandhu Nayak and Kulamandi Nayak of Talarsingh village under the Mohana PS were arrested.
