The Gaan Sathi Sangh has given an ultimatum to the State Government to fulfill their long standing demands including permanent employment, failing which it would launch an indefinite hunger strike from February 24. This was declared by Sangh State president Shreeman Biswal at its core committee meeting here on Tuesday.
Earlier on February 9, a five-member team led by the Sangh president, had discussed with Panchayati Raj Minister Kalpataru Das following which the Sangh had deferred its agitation for two days. But on February 12, the Sangh members were lathicharged and some were arrested by police.
Biswal threatened that if the State Panchayati Raj Department failed to issue a Government order in favour of their demands by February 23, all the Gaan Sathi members across the State would launch an indefinite hunger strike before the State Assembly on February 24.
