The BJP on Saturday demanded the Odisha Government further reduce the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 14 a litre.
State BJP president Samir Mohanty said the tax on petroleum products is spent on developing infrastructure and welfare projects. The Central Government by reducing the price of petrol by Rs 5 and diesel by Rs 10 would be under tremendous financial burden.
Despite the huge additional expenditure incurred in view of Covid-19, the Centre has taken the decision in larger public interest.
The Odisha Government has reduced the fuel prices by only Rs 3 which is highly disappointing. They should further reduce the price of petrol and diesel by Rs 14 per litre for the benefit of people, Mohanty demanded.
The BJP-ruled States have significantly reduced the fuel prices from Rs 12 to Rs 17 after the Centre announced reduction in Excise Duty on fuel, he said.
