The Institute of Social Development (ISD) organised “Sangam” mega cultural event as a series of fundraising events aimed at raising money to support vulnerable and disadvantage children particularly those with “cancer” at the IDCOl auditorium here on Friday.
Nearly 2,000 children are diagnosed with cancer in the State every year. ISD hopes a profit from the mega cultural event will draw more funding for the venerable children.
“The fact that many little orphan kids world over are battling against cancer within the past few years has been a cause of concern. We have learned to lean on each other and trust each other. The cancer that has affected our children has undoubtedly made our organisation stronger because we have had to rely on one another for emotional support during the tough times,” ISD director Subhashree Das said.
Das quoted, “You already know the link between confidence and wellness. Confidence could give someone the strength to fight back and give all their energy to their cancer treatment.”
In addition, ISD will hold competitions on drawing, singing, dancing with donations from individuals and organizations.
“A common misconception among people is that cancer is not curable, when there is a 90 per cent chance of cure for children. People should be aware that they have to approach specialized centers to get cancer treatment for children,” Dr SR Tripathy informed.
