Four Russians held for flying drone camera over Puri temple

PNS

The Singhadwara police on Thursday detained four foreign nationals, including two women, for allegedly making a drone camera fly over the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri.

The four, all Russians, were identified as Maxim Verkhoturov, Yulia Shvaleva, Dima Zlobin and Elena Solodehuk. They were operating the drone camera from the Radha Ballav Mutt near the temple, reports said.

It may be recalled that a quadcopter had hovered over the temple in 2014 and managed to capture aerial videos and photos of the Jagannath Temple. The videos and photos were later uploaded on YouTube and Facebook and did rounds on social media.

Following this incident, the Puri district administration had been asked to ensure 24-hour patrolling at the four towers around the temple.
