Tension prevailed at the Haladipadia slum in the Jharpada area here on Sunday as two groups of slum dwellers clashed over a past dispute.
One of the two groups was led by ‘lady Don’ Shaila Ranasingh, who had been arrested for attacking police personnel, including laxmisagar police station IIC, a few months ago.
In Sunday’s incident, Shaila along with her supporters allegedly attacked the members of a family residing in the slum over a prolonged dispute between them.
At least four persons were injured in the clash. The injured were sent to the Capital Hospital for first-aid, reports said. The laxmisagar police have arrested a total of 11 persons, including Shaila and her sister Subhadra, belonging to the two groups.
Sources said Shaila had been released from the Jharpada jail only about a week ago on a conditional bail.
The court while granting bail had directed Shaila to present herself at the local police station every Sunday and not to get involved in any criminal activity.
It may be noted that laxmi Sagar police had visited Haladipadia slum on June 8 after being informed that Shaila and her associates were thrashing a youth mercilessly after tying him to a pillar. However, Shaila and her associates too attacked the policemen. Some policemen, including the IIC, were injured in their attack.
