PNS

The Rastriya Go-Raksha Andolan Samiti, State unit has begun a four-day relay strike in front of the State Assembly here from Monday demanding a ban on  cow slaughter and illegal transportation of cattle, besides urging the Government to vigorously support the cow protection movement in the State.

“In Hindu culture, we are worshipping cow as a mother. But instead of ensuring proper care and protection for cattle, the Government is sitting idle while acres of grazing lands are being encroached by influential persons and cow slaughter is taking place in almost all parts of the State violating guidelines,” said   Rastriya Go-Raksha Andolan Samiti, Odisha unit chief coordinator  Santh Krishna Das.

The Samiti also demanded setting up of a Goseva Commission for protection of cattle, immediate recovery of encroached grazing lands and establishment of a Gobigyana Centre in every district.

The Samiti, further, urged every cow-loving individual to come forward to intensify the cow protection movement in the State.

“The strike will continue till October 9 and we will announce our next course of action accordingly,” a Samiti leader said.
