Forward Bloc calls for Left, secular front

The All India Forward Bloc on Friday called for a Left, democratic and secular front at the national and State levels to fight the anti-people policies of the Modi-led BJP Government at the Centre.

Addressing party’s workers at its national council meeting here, Forward Bloc general secretary and former MP Debabrata Biswas said making a strong issue platform at the national level is the need of the hour.

Biswas placed draft political resolutions on current national and international issues and said the time-tested Indian democracy is in peril under the Modi dispensation as all the Parliamentary proceedings are subverted and Constitutional values trampled.

“The way it adopted and withdrew the farm laws, codified labour laws, made division of Jammu & Kashmir, privatised national and natural assets, obliterated Federal characteristics and systematic attempts are made to transform the country from secular to theocratic amply prove this fact,” Biswas stated.

The national council also took strong exception of the rising prices of all essential commodities, especially petroleum products, medicines and other house hold essentials.

Earlier in the day, party deputy chairman and ex-MLA PV Kathiravan and other leaders and delegates garlanded the portrait of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the venue.

Delegates from 18 States are participating in the two-day meeting. Party State secretary Jyoti Ranjan Mahapatra gave the welcome address.
