A Special Vigilance Court here on Wednesday convicted former Baripada Irrigation Circle Superintending Engineer Gangadhar Jena in a disproportionate asset case and sentenced him to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) for 3 years and pay a fine of Rs 6 lakh and in default face RI for another year.
The Baleswar Vigilance had raided his residential buildings in Cuttack, office and official quarters at Baripada in 2001 gettng allegation against the SE and had estimated his assets to be worth Rs18, 13,495. Jena was chargesheeted in 2002. Jena, who is a native of Jajpur district, possessed residential house at Bajarakbati Road, Cuttack, besides several plots of land at Choudwar.
