In view of the upcoming elections, BJD women wing of Kandhamal organised a meeting at Phulbani where district BJD women wing president Punam Kahara presided.
MLA and Biju Mahila Janta Dal (BMJD) State president Snehangini Churia and Kandhamal MP Dr Achyuta Samanta were also present. Churia said due development initiatives of CM Naveen Patnaik, the tribals of Kandhamal have been getting a lot of benefits. She said through the Mission Shakti, thousands of women are now self-employed and empowered.
A discussion was made on how to reach the benefits of the Government schemes to the tribal women of Kandhamal. MP Samant opined that the BJD members should work unitedly for the development of the district. Among others, Kandhamal observer Bijay Naik, Phulbani MLA Angada Kahara, G Udayagiri MLA Daluga Pradhan, Baliguda MLA Chakramani Kahara, BJD district president Saroj Karna, women workers from different blocks and BJD councillors attended.
