Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday said the collapsing of under-construction Bomikhal flyover twice within a short period of time is sheer example of inertness and inefficiency of the Naveen Patnaik Government.
He demanded that a high-level agency like IIT, Chennai should conduct a probe into the quality of work of the flyover and curative measures be taken as per its recommendations.
He wanted to know why a retired official was given the highest charge of the Works Department. “When a mishap happens during construction, the company is blacklisted and its licence cancelled and new eligible company is entrusted the work as per law. When a mishap occurred in last year and there is no point to ask the same construction company to resume the work,” he said.
He lamented that the company has also been given contracts for construction of flyovers at Sambalpur, Jatni and many other places.
