An unregistered and unauthorised children home, Happy Children, under the Bapuji Gram Kalyan Saghathan (BGKS) at Mohana was shut down and three girls and two boys were rescued by officials of the District Child Protection Unit following an order from Gajapati Collector Mansi Nimbhal on Wednesday.
Getting information from the district administration that there was an unregistered home functioning at abandoned cowshed, which has no door, window or flooring at Mohana, a team led by District Child Protection Officer Arun kumar Tripathy inspected the home.
The rescued children were handed over to the CCWD organisation for the time being up to their settlement. “We would shift the children to Government-run residential schools near their villages for their safety,” district Collector Nimbhal said. CWC members inspected nine registered and 10 unregistered homes in Gajapati district recently.
