Six unidentified criminals on Friday night opened fire on a fish merchant establishment at Olara Haat near Gadabishanpur Panchayat of Erasama block and snatched away about Rs 4 lakh from the shop owner.
Reports said that the fish merchant shop Ashok- Rama is located at a busy road. About 8 pm on Friday, the six motor cycle borne criminals reached at the shop and blank fired to terrorise the owner of the shop. Then they asked him to hand out cash. But when the fish trader refused to oblige, they started firing again and again.
later, they snatched away a cash bag from the fish trader and fled the spot.
Soon after the incident, hundreds of villagers gathered at the spot and staged road blockade by burning tyres on road. The police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The Erasama police station IIC said a manhunt has been launched to trace the criminals.
