At the camp, analysis of water quality parameters and health check-up of fish samples bought by farmers were done and remedial measures were suggested by a scientific team of the CIFA.

CIFA Principal Scientist (FHMD) Dr BK Das emphasized upon how to boost fish production level from 1.5-2.0 tonnes to minimum four tonnes per hectare by adopting scientific fish culture practices, using stunted fingerlings and best management practices and applying preventive health management measures.

Principal Scientist Dr P Swain highlighted various diseases in freshwater culture whereas Scientist R Das stressed on the role of water quality parameters and how it could be managed at for healthy fish production.

District Fisheries Officer Avinarayan Pattanaik stressed on the diversification of aquaculture practices and encouraged the farmers to include minor carp into the culture system to boost up the farmers income within a short period.
