At least ten families were rendered homeless as over a dozen houses gutted in a fire that broke out in the Berhampura slum under the Cantonment police station here on Saturday morning.
Police said properties of unsubstantial amount have been damaged and no one was injured in the inferno as three fire tenders brought the fire under control within 30 minutes.
Fire brigade personnel believed that a kitchen fire could be the cause of the mishap.
