An employee of the Rourkela Steel Plant has been duped of about Rs 35 lakh by his facebook friend, who identified herself as a doctor in Senegal in West Africa. The Cyber police station, after registering a case, is now investigating it.
According to sources, Jatindra (name changed), residing in steel township area with his family, works as an operator in the RSP. During the month of May, he had received a friend request in his facebook account from a girl who had mentioned her name as Dr Betty Wilson, residing in Senegal, a country in West Africa. After seeing the friend request, Jatindra accepted it and had started exchanging messages with her. As per FIR mentioned in Cyber police station, Betty Wilson, had asked Jatindra his gmail id to exchange message and Jatindra had immediately given sent his gmail id.
Wilson then had started exchanging email messages with Jatindra and had written in email that she is working as a doctor without border in Senegal and she and her team have got a box in which 660000 US Dollar is available and she wants that these huge amount of US dollar be coverted into Indian currency and had further written that if he (Jatindra) wants to be a part of it and will help in converting these dollars to Indian currency, he will be given 40 per cent commission of the total converted amount.After getting this lucrative offer.
