A team of senior BJP leaders led by party State unit Krushak Morcha president Mahesh Sahu, visited the family members of deceased farmers Ruturaj Dalai (55) of Gurandi village under Gosani block in Gajapati district and Sudam Pradhan (40) of Manikapur village under Biramaharajapur block in Subarnapur district and blamed the State Government for its lack of foresight in farming sector resulting in farmers’ suicide at regular intervals. “Both the farmers suffered a huge crop loss in cyclone Phailin and were unable to repay the loan amount which forced them to commit suicide by consuming pesticide in their fields,” said a Press release issued by the party. The Morcha too demanded immediate compensation of Rs5 lakh to the kin of the deceased and Rs10,000 to the widows of the deceased farmers from the Red Cross fund.
