Hundreds of Congress supporters, including its youth wing activists, on Monday held a protest meeting and demonstration in front of Tirtol block office and demanded resignation and action against Tirtol MlA Rabindra Bhoi in the false affidavit case.
They submitted a memorandum to the Tirtol BDO addressed to the Election Commission of India and State Election Commission seeking legal action against legislator Bhoi. Reports said that the Congress workers took out a motor cycle rally from Biridi block covering Raghunathpur block and converged at Tirtol block office on Monday afternoon where they held a massive demonstration and meeting. They demanded that Bhoi should be shown the door since he had misled the Election Commission and the voters by furnishing false information pertaining to his education qualification.
“Bhoi has violated Section 125 [A] of Representation of the People’s Act, 1951. So we approached the Election Commission of India and State Election Commission to take action against him,” Congress leaders, Raj Kishor Behera , Bijaya Nayak, Gagan Das and Devi Prasanna Tripathy said.
Meanwhile, with the false affidavit row tarnishing the image of Bhoi, the legislator was found sidelined by most BJD leaders from Biridi, Tirtol and Raghunathpur blocks. Tirtol Block BJD unit on Sunday organized a party meeting and discussed the false affidavit case. Many leaders fumed over the ongoing development which, they said, was affecting the party image.
