A four-member team of the Bhubaneswar-based Maa Ghar Foundation, a home for destitute women, led by its secretary Rutuparna Mohanty on Saturday paid a visit to the houses of the two gangrape victims at Panasuapada and Nuapada villages under the Patkura police station limits.

It recorded their statements along with their family members. The team also discussed with the locals. later, it went to the Patkura police station and sought to know the status of the cases and the action taken by the Patkura police. In the evening, they met the SP and urged him to take steps to nab the culprits soon.

According to Mohanty, the team came to know that the fellow villagers of the duo gangrape victims were not cooperating with either the victims or their family members. Rather, they said that the allegation was purely false.

“Our inquiry establishes that gangrape occurred in the duo cases. We demand arrest of the culprits within a week, financial assistance to the Dalit victims and submission of chargesheets in the cases soon,” said Mohanty.

The fact finding report will be submitted to the DG of police, the Chief Secretary, and the chairperson of SC/ST Commission for necessary steps, she informed. The fact-finding team also requested the police to provide necessary security to the victims.

Meanwhile, Dalit Adhikar Sangathan State convener Arabinda Mallick visited the houses of the victims as well. later, he demanded justice to the victims. When contacted, Patkura police station IIC Kartika Chandra Mallick stated that the police have recorded the statements of the two victims on camera at the police station. “Inquiry is on to nab the prime accused in the two cases. As the victims delayed in lodging FIR, the accused got an opportunity to flee from the villages,” Mallick said.
