Odisha Excise has seized a huge amount of illegal liquor and other materials worth Rs 3 crore during the last one week (January 30 to February 5) as it is on a overdrive across the State.
Team Excise led by Commissioner Excise Ashis Singh has been continuously conducting special drives to control all types of excise crimes for smooth conduct of Panchayat elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
During the raid, the Field Officers of Directorate of Excise have detected 1,050 cases, arrested 832 accused persons and seized 27,266 litre of ID liquor, 3,33,006 litre of ID wash (base raw material for manufacturing country liquor), 604 kg of ganja, 334.71 litre of duplicate IMFL, 26.75 litre non-duty paid IMFL and 100 litre spirit, officials said here on Sunday.
The excise sleuths also found 133.75 litre ginger /tincture, 97,200 pieces of duplicate EAL, 12,000 pieces of duplicate company label of different brands, 2,00,000 pieces of corks/ caps and 38 bikes and four wheelers along with other incriminating excisable article during the raids.
Further, the officer of the EI and EB Unit-II, Cuttack and Excise team of Nayagarh district conducted raid at Pimpal village under Ranapur PS area of Nayagarh on Monday and seized 350 bottles of duplicate IMFL, 150 litre spirit, 30 litre blend of duplicate IMFL, 4 litre caramels, 1,000 pieces of empty bottles, 1 litre essence of rum. 1 litre essence of whisky, one sealing machine, 4,320 pieces of duplicate EAL, 20,000 pieces of duplicate company lable of different brands, 4,000 new caps and one vehicle.
The major cases detected during the past one week period include raid
On February 5, State Flying Squad, Cuttack & Angul District jointly conducted raid at Raniguda under Angul PS and seizure of 200,000 duplicate Corks (Caps) of different brands / bottles, 96,000 pieces of duplicate EAL ( Excise Adhesive Lable ) and 1,200 piece of company lable; seizure of 240 kg ganja worth Rs 12 lakh with one Bolero Pick up and arrest of one in Gajapati district; busting of a duplicate IMFL in Mayurbhanj district with seizure of 100 litre Spirit; seizure of 272 kg ganja at Khamarigaon (K Nuagaon PS area ) in Kandhamal district worth Rs13.60 lakh; raid on a duplicate IMFL unit at Berhampur Town with seizure of 960 bottles (172.8 Litre ) among others.
