The Tikabali police in Kandhamal district arrested an Excise Inspector on the charge of submitting a fake caste (tribal) certificate to get his job.
Identified as Paula Digal, of Tikalamendi village under Beheragan panchayat in Kandhamal district, the official is currently posted as Excise Inspector in Bhubaneswar, police said.
It may be mentioned that investigations into 939 fake certificate cases in Kandhamal district are underway following an order of the Director of the SC and SC Development Department.
The police have so far framed charge-sheets in 28 fake certificate cases and arrested 29 persons. As many as 13 of them have been dismissed from their services, District Welfare Office sources said.
The Kui Samaj Samanwaya Samiti (KSSS), a powerful local tribal outfit, has been demanding dismissal of all those who have managed to get Government jobs by producing fake certificates claiming tribal status.
