While hundreds of people wait at the Laxmannath inter-State border gate between Odisha and West Bengal for hours in order to enter Odisha with valid passes, former Baleswar MP Rabindra Kumar Jena provided them cooked foods both day and night besides drinking water.
He began the cooked food service since Sunday and daily about 1,500 meals are prepared for serving people who are crossing the interstate gate, said Jena.
“Due to stringent entering policy I came to know hundreds of people including old, aged young , children and pregnant women are waiting in queue for hours together under the scorching heat. They have , at that point , no access to food as all the roadside dhabas are closed . After learning their difficulties, meals were supplied at the gate to all,” said Jena .
The district administration has tightened the entry of people mainly from Bengal end after there was a lot of hue and cry that Bengal returnees with various infections had inflicted others in their area.
