The use of a cell phone by former State Minister Padmalochan Panda’s son Benumadhab Panda in the Soro Sub-Jail in Baleswar district has gone viral on social media platforms, raising many an eyebrow.
Benumadhab is now an under-trial prisoner after being arrested on the charge of misbehaving with a woman on July 12. In the video, he also appears to be dictating terms to a jail official.
The incidents have raised questions on the security arrangements in the jail.
In connection with a group clash during a marriage procession about two weeks ago, two persons,
Laxmikanta Panda and Hemanta Panda, were also arrested. In a counter FIR, Laxmikant’s wife Banita had alleged that Benumadhab barged into her house in an inebriated state and misbehaved with her.
Following the complaint, Benumadhab was arrested and forwarded to court.
Notably, Padmalochan Panda, who had been elected to the State Assembly from Simulia three times on Congress ticket, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) last year.
