A police complaint was lodged against former Pipili Congress MlA Yudhistir Samantray on Monday in connection with the murder of Pipili Panchayat Samiti member Sushant Mishra on Sunday.
The FIR lodged by Sushant's mother Ritanjali Mishra at the Pipili police station has also named 18 others.
According to sources, Sushant was killed when he along with a relative was carrying his mother to a hospital in Bhubaneswar for treatment. Some miscreants stopped them near the KEC and forcibly took Sushant to the nearby forest even as his mother requested them to spare her son.
Then they attacked Sushant with clubs and weapons and fled the spot assuming him to be dead. Being informed, police reached the spot and rushed Sushant to a hospital in Bhubaneswar and then to Cuttack where he died, said sources.
In her complaint, Ritanjali has alleged that Samantray had attacked Sushant over some dispute earlier too.
As a palpable tension prevailed in the area, 14 platoons of police have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident.
