Expressing strong resentment over the clarification of former Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Tarun Kanti Mishra that he has not acquired Government lands illegally, the Odisha Soochana Abhijan urged civil society organisations for a State-wide debate on the issue.
“In a vernacular Odia daily, Mishra recently clarified that he has not illegally acquired any plot arguing that he is having a Government plot in Pandab Nagar and his wife has taken another GA plot as per the Government scheme,” said Abhijan convenor Pradip Pradhan.
Apart from Pandab Nagar and his wife’s plot Mishra has possessed two ancestral properties at Saheed Nagar and lewis Road in Bhubaneswar and another plot in CDA in Cuttack, Pradhan said.
Pradhan said, “If the statement Mishra is taken for granted, then it is presumed that there is a law in our State which allows the people to acquire multiple Government plot under various plotted scheme in their name or name of their wives so the Taradatt headed Taskforce report on Discretionary Quota and its recommendation is farce and meaningless.”
He further questioned that on what morality a person possessing three Government plots is staying at a Government quarters. Batting for a State-wide debate on the issue, Pradhan urged all stakeholders to fight against the illegality.
