Eviction drive to be held in Cuttack city on Puja eve

PNS

When Cuttack is now getting ready to wear a bridal look for the annual mega festival of Dusshera from October 10, RDC (Central) Arabinda Padhee has ordered to launch a fresh drive for eviction of encroachers in the city from Thursday.

This time too, the RDC has taken the plea that the eviction drive is necessitated following an order from the Odisha High Court on September 6, 2013. Holding a review meeting following the HC’s order, the RDC ordered the district, civic body and police authorities to comply with the court order by October 10.

While the HC has ordered to remove the stray dogs and cattle from city roads as they are causing traffic hindrances, the RDC asked the civic body commissioner to take immediate steps to clear all roads of stray animals.

While the High Court too has ordered to relocate the slaughter house (exclusively used for cattle slaughter) from near the Barabati Stadium at some other place outside the city, the RDC feels it is a “sensitive” issue and no immediate step would be taken on it now.

The RDC further directed the authorities to remove all encroachments that have come up over the drains near the High Court and desilt them before October 10. He also asked the district Collector to prepare a list of all encroachments on lord Jagannath’s land in the city sparing at least two to three feet of it for drainage purpose and bringing back the remaining land to the possession of the district administration after eviction of encroachments.
