The State Assembly on Tuesday passed the Endowment Amendment Bill-2014 through a voice vote amidst ruckus and boycott by the Opposition Congress and BJP members.

According to the Bill, the Endowment would not collect any tax on the revenues of the temples and mutts henceforth.

Earlier, the Endowment was collecting seven per cent of revenues being collected by the temples and mutts. The waiver amount would now be used for the development of these religious establishments, envisaged the Bill.
