The blood sample of the patient at the VIMSAR, who was allegedly transfused contaminated blood, has tested negative for Hepatitis-C in the ElISA test conducted after an uproar over the issue.

“The rapid test done yesterday had showed negative. Today, the micro-biology department conducted the ElISA test, which confirmed it as Hepatitis C negative,” VIMSAR blood bank official Chitta Ranjan Pradhan said.

Following a report on the botched-up blood transfusion in the premier health institute, the hospital Superintendent had on Thursday asked for a report within 72 hours. A four-member team was formed under the chairmanship of the Pathology department chief to investigate the issue.

On the other hand, efforts were on to collect the blood sample of the other patient, who was allegedly transfused with HIV-infected blood, informed Hospital authorities.
