How a mother cares and loves her child even if she is an animal, was proved by an elephant on Thursday morning in the Jhirpani area. The elephant did not care her safety to get into a well to rescue her baby which had fallen in the well with 14-foot water.

Sources said, on Thursday morning at around 7 am, an elephant and her calf were walking towards the Jhirpani area from Banki forest. However, on their way, the baby elephant fell inside a well.

When the villagers noticed baby elephant struggling inside the water, they saw the mother standing outside the well, trying to rescue her calf by extending her trunk.

The mother elephant was also screaming seeing her calf inside the well. But when she could not succeed in her effort to bring her baby out, she went inside the well.

The villagers soon informed the Banki forest officials, following which a forest team comprising of 35 persons reached the spot and started a four-hour-long rescue operation.

They increased water level up to 18 feet by filling water inside the well and broke a side of the well to create a passage before bringing outside both the mother and her baby.
