A man died and a minor boy was critically injured in a powerful cracker explosion at Boilo village under the Kissannagar police station of Cuttack district on Monday morning.
The SCB Medical College Hospital sources here said Debendra Samal (65) died while undergoing treatment and his grandson Sambit (6) is now in a very critical state with over 90-per cent burn injuries. Quoting villagers, police said Debendra was bursting crackers in the morning while his grandson was playing around when the mishap happened injuring both critically. “The elderly man died of self-inflicting injuries; and no written complaint is received yet in this connection,” said Kissannagar Police Inspector Pravash Chandra Sahu.
