Eggs hurled at CM’s carcade in Puri

PNS

Opposition party workers on Wednesday hurled eggs at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s carcade near Hospital Chhak here.

The incident took place when the CM was returning to Bhubaneswar after attending the foundation-stone laying ceremony for the Srimandir Parikrama Project in the pilgrim town.

Earlier in the day, members of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) were taken into preventive custody for waving black flags at Patnaik on Bada Danda here.

The activists shouted “Naveen Patnaik Down Down” slogans and opposed his visit.

Few moments before, eggs were also hurled at Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha’s convoy near Malatipatpur on the outskirts of the town.

The BJP and the Congress have been demanding ouster of Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra over his alleged involvement in the Mamita Meher murder case.

BJYM State president Irashis Acharya said hurling of eggs at the Chief Minister would continue till the CM has not removed Mishra from his Cabinet.
