Members of the Indian Ex-Services league, Odisha Branch on Tuesday urged the Rajya Sainik Board Odisha to take steps to enhance seat reservation for their wards in the State-run educational institutions from this academic session. In a letter to the Sainik Board Secretary, the ex-servicemen body’s general secretary Bidyadhar Nayak appraised about the Odisha Government’s recent decision of raising the reservation ratio for SC and ST students in educational institutions to 38.75 per cent from 20 per cent.
“In view of this decision, we request you to take steps to at least double the reservation ratio for our wards in Government educational institutions and make applicable from 2015-16 academic year,” said Nayak.Notably, the Government educational institutions now have only one per cent reservation for the wards of the ex-servicemen.
