Higher Education Minister Pradeep Panigrahy on Monday called upon the students of the Hill Top College here to participate in the State’s development process and safeguard its interest.

The Minister said this while inaugurating a 200-seat hostel for ST and SC students in the college premises during his whirlwind visit to the block. Besides, he laid foundation stones and inaugurated as many as 25 projects at Mohana, Chandiput and Chandragiri area, including classrooms in different high schools, rural water supply project and the RD Division.

On this occasion, Zila Parishad Member Rashmee Rathan informed that Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sudam Marandi is scheduled to lay foundation stone for more than 150 projects in Mohan Assembly constituency on January 6.

Meanwhile, Gajapati Zila Parishad vice-president Bimbadhar Nayak said the RWSS water tank should not have been inaugurated in the Tarini Temple premises as it is a conflict area.

“I am also surprised to see contractors’ names in BJD Council letter pad as convenors of Mohana block and Constituency, which is also never conversant,” Nayak added.

Similarly, BJP Mohana unit general secretary Prasant Mallick said the BJD ministers’ marathon to Mohana would not help people any way.

“The non-mentioning of names of elected representatives like Zila Parishad vice-president and Members in the invitation cards shows how BJD goes impartial. The ruling party has no respects for dalits and ST people,” he said.
