The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday interrogated miner Indrani Patnaik’s son Anurag at its office here for more than seven hours in connection with the ongoing probe in an illegal iron ore mining case.
Sources said ED sleuths asked Anurag Patnaik, who had entered into the ED office at 10 am, about financial transaction between Indrani Patnaik Mines company and All Trade, an unregistered venture of Anurag.
After coming out of the ED office at 5.50 pm, Anurag said his company All Trade, in which he is a director, has no relation with the Indrani Patnaik Mines. He never accepted any position in the company, he said.
When reporters asked about the reason of his interrogation, he said the ED asked him questions relating to the accounts of All Trade.
But ED sources said he is playing a key role in the Indrani Patnaik Mines. Reliable sources said Anurag’s father, mother and brother are also directors of the All Trade Company, which deals in iron ore.
The ED would also interrogate other members of Anurag’s family in this connection, the sources said.
Earlier, the ED had issued summons to chiefs of 10 companies after conducting raids at their firms at several places of the State on July 9. The Central investigating team had also raided houses of Champua MlA Sanatan Mahakud for his involvement in a money laundering case.
