The East Coast Railway Mazdoor Union (ECoRMazU) on Tuesday demanded immediate withdrawal of the railway privatisation policy as it observed the Sangharsh Divas on the day.“The Central Government has decided to run 151 private trains on 109 routes. If the decision is implemented, it would not only cost passengers more but also devastate the livelihoods of millions of employees,” said the union functionaries.
The union said the development of railways has been possible due to contribution of lakhs of people by donating farmlands, enormous hard work of employees and use of hard earned money of millions of citizens. The privatasiation decision is totally anti-people, members alleged. The union also demanded early filling of all vacant posts in the railways.
