East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager Rajiv Vishnoi inaugurated a multipurpose indoor stadium at Mancheswar here on the Republic Day on Monday. ECoR Women’s Welfare Organisation president Shalini Vishnoi was present. The stadium having facilities to hold multi events can accommodate 1,720 spectators in its eight galleries. Besides, 17 hostel rooms, four dormitories, conference hall, VIP rest room, VIP gallery, separate change rooms for girls and boys and a first-aid room are available in the stadium premises.
Apart from gymnasium, events like, badminton, basket ball, hand ball, volley ball, bridge, table tennis, billiards, carom and cards can be played inside the stadium. The ECoR Indoor Stadium is expected to give a fillip to sporting activities in Odisha and some nearby areas. The Railways’ efforts in this direction have been widely appreciated as a positive and direct approach to developing sports infrastructure and encouraging sports persons, claimed an official release.
