Eco-Savers Youth Network holds Green Consumer Day

PNS

In a bid to create awareness on purchase of only eco-friendly products, the Eco-Savers Youth Network, an initiative of the People’s Cultural Centre (PECUC), observed the Green Consumer Day at the Institute of Media Studies here on Saturday.

The Green Consumer Day is the occasion to rethink on what one buys and the impact it has on environment. A Green Consumer is one who is very concerned about environment and, thus, purchases products that are environment-friendly, noted the Youth Network.

Buying recycled stuffs and local products, avoiding disposal items, using own cloth or paper bag for shopping, etc., can be done to be a Green Consumer. Products made from natural ingredients and without causing pollution are examples of eco-friendly products.

The occasion highlighted the problems of consumerism and its impact on environment.

PECUC executive director Anuradha Mohanty said that in tribal areas like Keonjhar, the youths are actively participating in creating awareness on safe environment. She called on the urban youth to engage them in such good work. This can be of a great help in protecting the environment, added Mohanty.

Among others, Eco-Savers Youth Network members Sailani Suman, Srujan Bhradwaj Pati, Sushant Kumar Sahoo and Archana Dash also spoke at the function.
