Congress leader and Utkala Bikash Juba Parishad president Debiprasad Prusti has urged Chief Election Commissioner of India (ECI) Om Prakash Rawat to order the Naveen Patnaik Government to change the name “Biju Yuva Bahini” as it is very similar to the Biju Yuba Janata Dal and confuses voters’ mind.
“It is a matter of great concern that the Odisha Government has started a scheme, named Biju Juba Bahini, under the Youth Affairs Department.
The ruling BJD’s youth wing Biju Yuva Janata (Dal) and the Government scheme Biju Juba Bahini are very much similar and confusing the voters.
It is quite natural that taxpayers’ money will be spent deliberately to give bonus to the ruling party.
Hundreds of coordinators employed in the Biju Juba Bahini from ward to district and State levels are paid by Odisha Government on monthly basis,” pointed out Prusti.
Arguing that not a single party named after an individual had/has such a youth wing and a Government scheme in similar name, Prusti demanded that the name of the Biju Juba Bahini be changed without delay.
Besides, he has written to heads of the National Tribal Commission, Scheduled Caste Commission, Persons with Disabilities Commission and the National OBC Commission to direct the Odisha Government for implementation of the reservation policy as it was not followed in case of appointment of coordinators.
